Biography
Bolis graduated from Monash University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts in graphic design (photography major). Since then she has successfully built both her fine art photography practice and a design career in Melbourne. An award-winning photographer, Bolis won Best Black & White Photograph, Kodak Salon at the Centre for Contemporary Photography (CCP) in 2001 and was a recent finalist in the Fremantle Art Print Awards (2009).
Exploring mystery and magic realism Bolis draws on cinematic, design and architectural languages. The artist’s achievements include the solo exhibition
Buildings are Lonely People (CCP, 2003) and the artist book
The Psychology of Trees (2009). Bolis has been the subject of essays by art critics Ashley Crawford (Photofile, vol.89, 2010) and Dr Daniel Palmer (
Photogenic, CCP, 2005).
