Biography
John Bodin was formally trained in 1982 at RMIT (Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology). He holds a Bachelor of Arts-Photography and has been recognised by the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) as an honorary life member.
Working form his inner city Melbourne studio, his work is principally concerned with the utility of the urban landscape within a semi – abstracted interpretation.
Bodin has had solo shows in May 2006 and 2009 and twelve group exhibitions in the last six years. He was a finalist in the 2005 New Social Commentaries Acquisitive Prize, and in 2007 the Toyota Community Sprit Gallery ‘Crossroads’ exhibition. He also exhibited in the Castlemaine State Festival and the acclaimed Prometheus Visual Art Award. More recently in 2009, his work was selected for the Ballarat Foto Biennale.
Public acquisitions include two works by The City of Yarra (Melbourne) and he has been privately collected in Australia and New Zealand.
He has also been invited to Judge at the AIPP national awards and guest lectures at RMIT University (Media & Communication) and Photographers Study College in Melbourne.
